Well here we are a week after the dismantling courtesy of the Urban-less Buckeyes. Ouch. What a black eye! Obviously the season continues and we will see how this team responds. Our 3rd Illinois team in 4 weeks!
This has typically been a close game and the record between these two is a split at 4-4. Road/Home has mattered very little most of the time. Hail Mary’s and crazy comebacks have made this matchup fairly exciting over the years! Ron Kellogg CAN run fast as we saw.
Khalil Davis is suspended who leads the team in sacks and TFL’s. This is fairly significant as perhaps our best player is out against a poor offense....does this allow NW more opportunity?
IF Frost is willing to vacate A LOT of his shotgun wanted offense, I think we can sneak this one out. If not? Hmmmmm.
When looking from afar...is there anything we truly do well? Special teams: kick return? Punt return? Poor punting is prevalent and likely no one who can kick a FG past an extra point (still iffy).
Besides N. Illinois our Defense
has really been poor giving up 35pts/game. NW won’t put up that many but they aren’t as bad as N. IL either.
What about offense? Kind of Jekyll and Hyde. We go as far as the OL, AM and the high snaps take us. AM has NOT been the AM of last year for whatever reasons. Moments....but the consistency level is awry. Will AM’s eyes be downfield diagnosing a defense or looking for where a solid NW front 7 pass rush coming from?
Perhaps we come out all systems go and turn a corner post tOSU. But hard for the Prophet to not foresee this game as a tussle and within the 8pts. The money line for NW would be very enticing to me....nearly 1.5 ROI.
NU 21 :(
Tough fought game:
No mention of the weather, is rain still forecasted or did that change?
Are we as good as we thought when we started this season.... No... are we as bad as our game with fOSU... No... should have beaten NW last year.. shoulda,.... ya know..
We bounce back, Red unveils a running game- 35
That Darn Fitzy-24
(if we dont get this one, bowl eligibility doubtful)
I posted this a couple days ago and then saw that it was in last week
s prediction thread
The real NU 35
Who knows what will happen. I kind of like this game because the talent level is more to our liking. That said, keep in mind that South Alabama is regarded as wont of the wort teams in division 1 and we escaped with a victory there.
I do think we can control our turnovers better against a team of basically equal talent. Hopefully we find another receiver or two get get the ballot to. Think Tight ends as a place to look. Close game.
Ya shouldn't pick against Nebraska in a game like this. It's almost like being a Nellie. Just can't do it.
Rain outta here. Just expected to be windy.
Go Big Red!
