Pelini is overpaid and the DL is very, very weak.

And with that said, we still have a very realistic shot of winning the division and even the conference, and ONLY because Ohio St is not eligible.  They are simply a much better team than Nebraska right now.

Need to win the next three.  I'll be there in Evanston in two weeks.  None of these games a gimmie, especially the MICHIGAN game.

I think it's safe to say Shawn Eichorst won't be giving Pelini or his staff any raises in the near futue....

And Martinez played like $h!t tonight, but the DL is still terrible!  No Sunday afternoon players in that group....

  • Here's a defensive idea. Put Taylor on defense, he knows how to make interceptions and fumbles.

    • We simply dont have Any Defensive Talent in Our Front 7! They do the Best they can with what they have, but the Talent, Athleticism is simply Not there! Martinez is Not a Prime-time Player! Every time We Play a Big Game like this, He Chokes! Yeah, He made some Plays, He also Killed Us with Turn overs, and Poor decisions! Its starting to look like We took the long way around to get back too 2007 !

  • My wife was with me at this ugly massacre. This whole city was ready to beat Nebraska but it  was hard to sit and watch Taylor "throw" and "give" the game away. Sometimes there is a time when a Head Coach needs to pull his quarterback in a time like this, not to punish but to relieve the pressure  before it gets in his head and to regroup himself. Taylor looks like he has forgotten all that he has learned this summer from his special quarterback coach.

    • Man, Russell, I could not agree more.  Where are the backups that are ready to step up when the starter is having a bad day, or getting beat, or has let the opponent get into their heads?  We got  almost nothing behind the guys that start.  We are in trouble.

  • Wonder if new AD would like to shake things up and see if Chris Petersen would like a new job? Also, does anybody out there think that Martinez looks like he's playing scared? Always see him go into this "little ball" maneuver. Never delivers a shot back at a would be tackler. When he gets pressure, he comes unraveled. Never going to lead us to the promised land.

We hired Bo to bring back the Defense. Nebraska - Blackshirts - Defense. That's us. That's what we do. Our D is not improving, period. Something has to give, or we must be ok with settling for mediocrity. I hope not.

    • Not Martinez's best game, that's for sure, but the offense is still putting decent pointage up on the board, even in our two losses.  Right now I'm praying #3 stays healthy!  Can you imagine if he goes down like Rex?  We've got nothing in the stable that I'd put my money on to replace him.

I'm giving my prediction for the NW game.  NU 87 NW 74.  I can't wait to see that one in person!

      • The offense is not the problem. We have lots of playmakers.

  • Too many turnovers on offense, front seven too slow on defense, watched the Ducks and wondered why in the h@!! we can't move the ball like that?  Our hurry up is like going to grandma's in comparison.  Bad Night and just some of the same.  We are not relevant and won't be unless we can recruit some more defensive speed.  Our history doesn't matter since most of todays recruits were five when we last split a national title.  Do you remember anything other than your dog when you were five?  Bo's got his job cut out for him in recruiting.  GBR!

  • we ARE gravitating back to the Callihan/Cosgrove era the uptempo sling it around experiment is failing miserably

I would rather lose 14-12 than 63-38 and feel like we had a chance to win

hopefully we start playing within our strengths and do what great rushing teams do which is pound the rock and eat the clock

in my opinion that is more important than recruiting, strength and conditioning or any other excuse

Carls D didn't fare much better last year with NFL roster guys . Is that a coincidence or a consequence ?

    • We now have bookends for the NEW ERA of NU football.

      CU 62 NU 36 - November, 2001

      OSU 63 NU 38 - October, 2012

Chris Brown's (Naperville, IL) 6 TD performance vs. the Blackshirts in 2001 has FOREVER changed the direction of our team. Only the most diehard of all fans would not recognize that.

Who has Pelini beaten in his 5 years here?
