Heard Transferring???

That hurts!  Many including myself felt that he was a better RB than Ameer, and would have a realistic shot at the number one spot next season.  Moving him to corner and then back at RB???  He was way too talented to be moved around like we didn't know what to do with him.  I think we wasted him just like Green.

Cross seems more like a GL and short yardage back and I don't see him being a number one back if Ameer were to go down.  That means no red shirt for Newby I guess.

Regarding recruiting, I can care less about losing Walker.  We are loaded at receiver and our best all-around receiver (Westerkamp) has not even touched the field yet.  Losing McWilson, however, does hurt because that's two classes in a row without a true safety and we have two starters to replace.  Gonna be awfully thin back there the next few seasons....

    • don't sweat it Mike if Heard could understand pass pro and protect TM better we would be talking about Abdu's transfer

we are alot deeper in RB than just those 4 guys, a lot of great backs and only one football

it's not such a bad problem to have

  • from what I understand Heard is a tough runner but Abdu has it all over him in pass pro and has better hands, and 2 more studs are coming to campus in the fall so I don't blame Heard for wanting to transfer he'll do well somewhere else and hasn't redshirted so has 3 years to play 2 and can afford to sit out a year in another conference

  • Is all this just a rumor? I can not find any info anywhere about Heard transfering. Living in Ohio, my resources are limited, & I can't find anything on the web about it. Can somebody post a link to anything that says this true? Thanks.

    • Rick,it has been reported by an Ohio paper, and here on our local sports channels, but they als cannot contact BO ,because he is out recruiting. I would suggest going to Huskerextra.com

      • Ah! I don't get any Ohio papers. They're full of Buckeye & Michigan BS.

  • Before I say much,I would like to hear from BO or one of the other coaches on Heard, but I would assume that they were thinking how to get him on the field more. Tomco you are correct in that wide reciever is a pretty good position and we would seem to be set. I was looking forward to seeing Ameer and Heard at running back. I would hope though,if they did mention switching pos. that they would have left it up to him and then gone from there. There is some reason for asking him to switch though,or maybe he had his mind already made up to transfer.

  • Tomko - I'm not certain that Westerkamp is the real deal.

Hard to imagine that he's as good as Turner or Bell.

  • I don't blame Braylon, but thought he would get a lot of playing time this year. I hope he goes to the Bobcats and plays with D. Vick after red-shirting.

Depth at RB will be amazing even without Braylon with the talent that is coming in, Taylor and Newby are big-time studs and if Devin Washington is truly walking-on, the Huskers are stealing him. I mean come on, 1900 yards in his junior year and a Class A State Championship, over 1000 yards this year while playing through injuries. Who does that in Nebraska? Let's see Gayle Sayers, Calvin Jones, Ahman Green and Danny Woodhead that's who!

    • Devin Washington looks like a Darren Sproles type back.  Plus he runs a 4.4.  Any idea why he's limited to a "walk-on?"

      • Looks like Devin and Najee are heading to Iowa Western JC, good decision on their part. Don't know why they didn't get any real offers, I thought Frank might have offered them.
