I have been a Husker fan since I saw Johnny Rodgers put on a show against the Sooners on Thanksgiving Day 1971. I grew up in New Jersey and was the only Cornhusker fan that I knew of. I now live in Michigan and still love the Cornhuskers. I will always be a Cornhusker fan. I remember the ups and downs and those embarassing loses in bowl games in the 80's and early 90's and the thrill of watching the Cornhuskers win three championships in four years. Should have won 4 in5. But lets be honest Taylor Martinez is no Tommie Frazier, no Scott Frost, no Brook Bollinger, or a Turner Gill for that matter. Those quaterbacks were leaders and I do not see that in Taylor. Also is it just me but whenever the Huskers melt down lately it seems to me that Bo is part of the problem with his tirades. Also the defenses we are watching now are not even close to the defenses of the championship years. I long to see another National Championship but I do not see it with Bo Pelini. I appreciate how he elevated the program up from the mess Callahan left but I just don't see a championship in the near future. That loss to Wisconsin was not only embarassing, but a wake up call that the swagger is not back. I had to endure the Michigan fans at work saying "wait until November 19th in the Big House" and after that performance I cannot disagree. Why would you go away from the run which was succesful and start chucking the ball around with a quaterback who is under 50%? On the road against a hot quaterback, run the ball, control the clock, and keep Wilson on the sideline. Of course the penalties did not help either and that is a discilpline issue and that falls squarely on Bo. Check the schedule and tell me you see anything better than 8-4 this season, maybe even only 7-5. That would have been unacceptable in the Tom Osborne era. It does seem like the program never has fully recovered from the Colorado fiasco in 2001. But I always have hope and always will say GO BIG RED! Also, I hope they never wear black helmets or jerseys or red helmets. I fell in love with the helmets and uniforms when I was a boy and hope they never change. GO BIG RED!
