Well Gang, September finally arrived and the Huskers put on a pretty good show against WKU. I saw a lot to look forward to this year, but a couple things that definitely need improving on.
First off, having TMart start was a great idea. I have been saying that it was Zac's job to lose, and if the showing on Saturday night is an indication of what we have for depth at QB, it could happen. I'm not going to spout all the stats, because we all either watched it on TV or… Continue

I've been reading the posts about everybody raving that the season is over. We Lost a game to a team that wanted the win more than we did. We were ranked well above our skill level in the polls. We were not a top 25 program going into the year and that has finally been shown. I don't doubt that there will be ample ass chewing for some time to come, but that is something that needs to be done. Our guys got complacent with their ranking. They thought that TT, ISU, Baylor, and CU would see our… Continue

That my friends, was a game for the Ages.
It was ugly beyond compare for 3 quarters of Football. Penalties, Turnovers, Slipping and Sliding all over the field. Bad Passes, Poor blocking, SPECIAL TEAMS PLAY, were highlights of a Soggy night in Columbia.
Then... The rain lessened in intensity and the Mighty Husker Defense (soon to carry the beloved Blackshirts) showed the country that THEY ARE as good as advertised. The miscues against VT were a fluke, and that Defense can… Continue

So what? We played a hell of a game on Saturday, against a ranked opponent and we played them to a standstill. 3 big plays against us. 1 special teams mistake and 2 defensive coverages. Over all not a bad performance.
That will end the downside of the program...
What we have to look forward to in the coming weeks is that Roy Helu has ARRIVED in a BIG way. VT has a great run defense and our O-line opened up holes that Helu's skinny ass fit right through. Coming around the… Continue

An impressive win by the Huskers on New Years Day 2009. Both the Huskers and Tigers were on an upswing for the season and somebody had to lose, glad it wasn't us.
Any questions about the Defense being qualified to wear the Blackshirts anymore? My God did those guys show some heart! 5 sacks were impressive, but the final sack that basically won the game was one of the biggest that I can remember. Hagg had 2 incredible plays, back to back that sealed the deal. Suh was a monster of a… Continue

We watched a hell of an effort by the Defense. They are already at 1/2 of the sack total from last season, 3 games in. We lost another D-end, but with any luck he'll be back next week. There really wasn't much of a drop off anyway. The guys are moving well and actually tackled well this week. I think that the week off will help, Bo will be all over them on pass coverage. We are still getting way too many interference calls. I'd bet that that will be a key point in the next 2… Continue

I finally got my wife (a die hard Sooner Fan) to go to a home game at Memorial Field. I've been telling her that it is like nothing she will ever experience again. We went (She even wore crimson and cream Husker gear) and she had a BLAST! As soon as we got home, she was online trying to find tickets to the VT game and other home games. I think I may have converted her. Took 8 years, but I might have it done finally!
The game scared me silly in the first half. We had a decent lead,… Continue

Not a resounding "Hell Yeah!", following this game, but we got the W.
The game was a tale of 2 halves. The first half we got away with anything we wanted to do, with the exception of the running game. WMU stacked the box and limited our running ability completely, with only one notable exception of Lucky's TD run. That one run, plus a couple of Ganz scrambles were our running total for the first half. Not great.
Ganz looked great in the first half. He looked poised and… Continue

What a beautiful day in Huskerland in what was probably the most anticipated game in years. The Red guys against the White guys. The stadium was packed for the first time in team history for a Spring "Practice".
The feelings in the stands when the team came out to do pregame drills was crazy. It was a dawn of a new era, with new players in the mix, which made it a lot of fun. Watching Adi Kunalic kicking field goals from 40+ yards through the uprights and over the net was incredible.… Continue

The last couple of weeks have been hell to watch on TV and listen to on the radio. All the talk is of who will coaching where, speculation speculation everywhere.
ESPN made many mistakes during this period, including saying the Bo Pelini was out of the running and that Les Miles was going to Michigan. Kirk Herbstreit even went so far as to say on Game Day that Miles had taken the job at Michigan, which prompted Miles to have an impromptu press conference to state just the… Continue

I survived my trek to Boulder with the help of the fine folks at Budweiser and whatever company makes those hand and foot warmers. It was probably the coldest game that I have ever been to.
As for the game itself, it was a fitting end to the Callahan-Cosgrove era. Another HUGE scoring situation from an average football team, that we made to look brilliant.…

Well, we went into the Kansas game excited to watch Joe Ganz in his first start as a Husker. He did amazingly well, despite the 4 turnovers. He was actually on pace to put up better numbers than Zac Taylor and Sam Keller. Mo Purify looked outstanding, as did the rest of the recieving corps, but trying to keep pace with a top 10 juggernaut was not in the cards. I was completely satisfied with the offensive playcalling on Saturday. We were able to do things that no other KU opponent had done… Continue

I just got done watching the best Husker Game of the Year! Even though we lost, there was absolutely NOTHING to be ashamed of. We came into the game 21 point underdogs and were in the game til the 4th quarter. A 3 point loss on the road to a ranked team equals an OUTSTANDING effort by the good guys.
From the outset of the 1st quarter NU outplayed the Horns, faltering only in the 4th quarter where the Defense started letting Charles run free. The Defense blitzed a few too many times… Continue

Another loss for our aimless Huskers. Although the Defense did show up for the first half, they were crushed in the 2nd. That Triple Option thing REALLY WORKS!! Holy Cow, we stopped using that offense, what 4 years ago, and somebody is still using it effectively??? They have the 8th rated rushing offense in the country. Didn't we used to dominate in that catagory a few years ago? Of course we couldn't pass for 2000 yards in a season if the other team stayed off the… Continue

Now that TO has taken the reigns of the athletic department, his focus will mostly be on the Football team as the rest of the programs seem to be pretty darn good. His major obstacle will be getting Callahans support, and as yet I haven't even heard him mention Tom's name in a news conference. Not the best way to show respect to the man who put this team into orbit with 3 championships to his credit.
Ever since the firing and bringing in Tom, I've been scanning the net, just like all… Continue
