Live From BugahaWest: Tapping the brakes

Dear Fellow Husker fans,We sit here two days away from game day.  Am I excited, oh you better believe it.  However with the Gebbia transfer my excitement is muted.  Yes, I think a workable calm towards a realistic look at this thing is needed.  I have faith in the coaches and believe they made the right call at QB.  However, no matter who won the battle the said player would have been taking their first live snap in 2 years and first one in college football.  I am hoping Martinez and Bunch…See More

Live from BugahaWest: A Spring Game for the Ages

Dear Fellow Husker fans,As some of you know I stayed up Saturday for the spring game.  I had a bit of luck in that my smart tv has the tunein app on it.  Well, an added piece of great luck is that my app has a link to the Husker IMG network.  So yes I was able to listen to the game and think things through.  Well, the more I thought, the more my thoughts were I have to see this thing somehow, some way. Well, Sunday afternoon came and I found a way.  I don't want to rehash the game, but here are…See More

Live from BugahaWest: Volume 100 and a Frost Warning

Dear Fellow Husker fans,I started this whole deal of blogging in June of 2008.  Back in those days the new hire was Bo Pelini and the debate was between Pelini and former Nebraska QB turned coach Turner Gill.  Who knew all these years later with a long hiatus that #1we 00 would be discussing another new head coach. So Scott Frost is our new head coach and from what I have read and heard so far a new beginning to a better future is on the horizon.  On that note we all have to slow down just a…See More

Favorite Husker Memory:
"Easy, way too easy." - Corey Schlesinger said these words at the victory party at the Devaney Center the day after beating Miami on Jan. 1, 1995. The night before my mom, dad, brother, sister and myself sat in front of the tv and watched that beautiful game. We were down but still it was only 17-9 at the end of 3 quarters. We all believed NU would own the 4th quarter which they did. I do recall I did not sleep that night, in fact I watched the game again and then sat by our front door waiting for the Omaha World Herald to be delivered. The delivery guy gave me our paper, I opened it and read the headline, "NU National Champs" with a awesome picture. At that moment, I put the paper on the dinner table and went to bed for a few hours of much needed sleep after fearing the previous night was just a dream. Go Big Red. Restore the Order.
Town I Currently Live In (City, State):

What Position did Turner Gill play:
I have seen 5 at the stadium and many on the couch. I remember the first one I went to and I took my walk man in to hear Kent Pavelka's call. Anyway, we had row 10 seats on the 30 yard line. I was able to hear the pre-game show, but once Sirius started and then the game it was useless. I turned my headphones off, turned to my friend who had the tickets and during a lull in the action I told him I couldn't even hear myself think let alone hear the radio call. Memorial Stadium is the best

Dear fellow Husker fans,

Sorry it's been awhile but the last couple of weeks in my real world has made time to write tough. Granted the product on the field was never anything anybody would want to write home about. It is interesting the feelings or lack there of that I had over the past few weeks in terms of football. I felt nothing, not anger, not sadness, not hurt, nothing. In my lifetime of sports fandom I never experienced something like that in regards to keeping an eye on my…

Live from BugahaWest: I took a week off for early trick or treat. Got tricked Saturday. (Blog volume #98)

Dear fellow Husker fans,

These are interesting times we are in as Husker fans. I'm going to try not to ramble today but the following thoughts have been nagging at me for a few days so I think I better get them out and get your ideas.

1. On FB pages I like I have seen what I perceive as people openly hoping for failure so that the only thing that can happen is Riley get fired. Now realize this is college football, not the NFL. In the NFL you can overpay for free agent players,…
