A Forum discussion is a great way to voice your thoughts and opinions and get other people's reactions to it. All members of Husker Spot are allowed to start new posts. Starting one is very simple. While you're hovering over the Forum tab at the top of the page, click on the "Start a Post" link.
Here are some tips on starting a forum post to make sure everyone knows what the post is about, etc.
Here's how you start a forum post of your own:
STEP 1 - Go to the Forum tab, hover on it, and click "Start a Post".
STEP 2 - Give your forum post a title and add some text. When titling your post, try to be descriptive so other readers can get an idea of what you'll be writing about. You can use the icons (seen in the screenshot below) to format your text, add pictures, add links and attach files to your blog entry.
STEP 3 - If you now click on the "Home" tab, you'll see your forum discussion at the top of the Forum Discussions box on the home page! By clicking on the title, you then will be able to edit it at any time by clicking on the "Edit Discussion" link near the top right of your post.
Now, you need to let other people know about your post so you can get some great feedback and comments. You can do this by clicking on the 'Share' link located near the bottom of your post. The picture below shows what the share link looks like.
When you are adding a new forum discussion you'll see a series of icons just above the text entry box that look like this:
Click the picture icon (circled in green) and you can choose to either upload a picture from your PC or paste the URL of picture you've already uploaded. To paste the URL of the picture you would like to place in your post, first you need to find the picture you would like to use. After you find the picture you want, 'right click' on the picture and select 'Copy Image Location'. After clicking on the picture icon (circled in the picture above) in your new post, then paste the image location there either by selecting "Edit" at the top of your browser, and then "Paste" or hold down the CTRL key and press "V". Then click "Add" to finish inserting your picture.
If this option is not available, you can copy the image location using another method. Here's the other method:
Right click on the image and go to "Show File" or "View Image"
From there the picture will load it onto a new page. Then, all you have to do is go to the browser address area and copy and the web address of that image. You will then click on the picture icon (circled in the picture above) in your new post, then paste the image location there either by selecting "Edit" at the top of your browser, and then "Paste" or hold down the CTRL key and press "V". Then click "Add" to finish inserting your picture.
Note: After clicking 'Add' you'll see some code that is inserted into the post. Don't worry! You're picture will show up after you finalize your post by clicking 'Start Discussion' button.
You bet you can! And it's simple! You can add a video from YouTube or Meta Cafe (or any video sharing site for that matter)
Simply go to YouTube (or whatever video site you choose) and find the video you want. To the right you'll see a box with some embed code in it. Simply copy and paste this into your blog entry and presto... the video will appear!
At YouTube (for example), highlight the code circled in green, copy it to your clipboard (press "Ctrl" and "C") and then paste it into your blog entry ("Ctrl" and "V"). Most video platforms such as Husker Spot's video and Google Video also include 'embed' code. Simply follow the same procedure.
Click the 'Share' link at the bottom of your post, and use the tools there to automatically send a link to your blog to all of your friends, your e-mail address book, etc.
When you are adding a new blog entry you'll see a series of icons just above the text entry box that look like this:
First, highlight the text that you would like to make a link. Then, click the link icon (circled in green) and a box will pop up asking you to enter the address (URL) of the page or site you want to link to.
Type or paste the web address of the link into this pop up window, and then press OK. The link code will now be added to your post and it will look similar to the picture below:
