Wow...now those are some defenses!

Two best teams in college football from the best conference in college football. LSU dominated Pac-12 Champion Oregon 40-27 (with their backup QB) and beat Big East Champion West Virginia 47-21 (who demolished the ACC Champion in the Orange Bowl), yet they can't break double figures against Alabama...twice! So what does this say for people who say Alabama did not belong? Talk about two COMPLETE teams who know how to tackle vs teams who don't (see Rose Bowl).

Think we'll ever have a defense like Bama or LSU anytime soon?  No frickin way!!!  LSU will have the number 1 defense next year since most of it comes back.

We got a long way to go.  Don't get me wrong. I'm hoping guys like Peat, Rome, Ankrah, and McMullen can make up the next great DL in the near future.

Good news on Westerkamp today.  I really thought he was gonna decommit for Notre Dame.

  • This year has really felt awful! and the future seems bleak. Atleast with Callahan we knew that his days were numbered. Pelini has coached championship caliber Defensive teams I don't really know if he recruited great players. Everyone has said this is his 4th year these seniors are his but he didn't have much of a chance his first season of recruiting because he was hired so late. This season's losses just seemed to be so far from ....we finished 24.  I hope we get to cause opponents to fumble and making interceptions and sacking the quarterback behind the line of scrimmage. Maybe Callahan could come back to put on a quarterback camp and Taylor could learn something about throwing. Did Taylor have a quarterback hero who could throw. To show my age; Fran Tarkenton, Roger Staubach, Dan Marino, or Joe Montana? A.J. McCarron could sure throw some darts last night. Maybe the state of Alabama and Louisiana just grow lots of really good defensive players. Maybe we could work a deal to let us borrow their bench warmers until championship time.

  • IMO Bama has been the best team in each of the past 3 years.

They lose a lot of players in 2012 but they get Michigan next.

Don't know how many of you watched the Splenda Bowl; but if a mediocre team like VaTech can hold Michigan to 184 yards and less than 50 yards rushing, what are Saban and Smart going to do to them?

    Will Denard survive that game?

We end up 24th in the Final Polls. How can any poll rank Michigan above Wisconsin? The BADgers are 3 TDs better than Michigan and played well vs. Oregon...a direct contrast to UM vs. VT.

Still don't know how we failed to show up in Ann Arbor. That was most certainly the low point of our season.

I see our 2012 team as being weaker than in 2011 due to losses on defense. Don't know that Rex can play any better than he did this year. Don't think that TMart will improve. Hope for breakouts by Abdullah, Bell and Turner (maybe?).

IMO Bammer and LSU were the clear top 2 this year and last nights game did nothing to change that.

Next group of 10 very good teams? Okie State, Stanford, USC, Oregon, BADgers, MSU, South Carolina, UGA, Baylor and Arkansas.

I also think that there is significant dropoff at #13 and beyond. Never was impressed by KState, Michigan (other than against NU but I think that was "our bad"), NU, VTech, Clemson, Houston, USM, WVA (other than in Orange), etc.

Now, for the 12th season in a row, we are left to say "Wait until next year!"

  • Hopefully Pelini & company watched this game & learned something!
