What the hell is this kid thinking?

Thought I would share this in it's entirety since it's short.  So, do we think FAU Cornerback,  D'Joun Smith, is suffering from amnesia, or what? Sheesh.

FAU cornerback: 'We can beat NU'

Florida Atlantic cornerback D'Joun Smith suffered a shoulder injury against Nebraska.

Considering his comments this week, one wonders if he might've taken a few too many shots to the head as well.

Nebraska racked up 784 yards Saturday, the most ever allowed by FAU. Despite those numbers, Smith still thinks the Owls could defeat Nebraska, given another opportunity.

"If we go back to Nebraska again I still think in our hearts, and I think we all think that, we are going in and beating them," Smith said. "They sure weren't faster than us. We had way more speed than them. They just capitalized on our mistakes."

He also said, "Even though people thought we were the underdog in our mind we weren't the underdog."

In fact, Smith said he and his teammates thought that if they came out and "punched them in the mouth" Nebraska players would wilt, and FAU's superior talent would take over.

Gary Sharp ("Sharp and Benning" on 1620 AM in Omaha) noted this morning that Florida Atlantic coach Charlie Partridge was a defensive assistant coach for Wisconsin when the Badgers blew the doors off the Huskers in 2011 (48-17) and in the 2012 Big Ten title game (70-31).

Players often parrot the thoughts of their coaches. Maybe Smith was merely reciting his own interpretation of his coach's message to the squad leading to last week's game.

Whatever the case, it's very difficult -- OK, preposterous -- to imagine FAU winning a rematch.
