What do I mean by turning point? Solich never really recovered after the Colorado
loss back in 2001. In fact, that was a Buster Douglas-Mike Tyson moment for the
entire NU football program. The moment where Callahan lost all credibility and
confidence was the Oklahoma State homecoming loss back in 2007. The fans headed
for the exits and the next week, Pederson was fired, and Callahan's fate was
sealed.
Now were in Bo's 4th year, and right now I'm seeing the program going backwards.
Martinez is a ticking time bomb, but seemed to be a better QB in the zone read.
I don't see Beck doing much better than Watson. In fact, it looks worse. And
now our defense sucks and is no longer capable of compensating for a bad
offense. That's TROUBLE!
Hope I'm wrong, but this loss might be the beginning of a snowball rolling downhill.

Pelini is the Doug Collins of Nebraska football. If we are serious about winning a B10 championship and contending on a national level we need to find Phil Jackson. That doesn't mean that we would.
Martinez biggest weakness is that he is NOT a competitor. He is a gutless prima donna...sorry to be so harsh. He plays hard when things are going his way. He folds up like a tent when they aren't. You can't coach courage or heart. This is what separates athletes from successful athletes. He may be our best QB but, sorry fellas, he simply doesn't have "it".
Joe Ganz? Everything that TMart is not!
I don't wanna see Pelini get canned. My concern is that this UW game is a trend of things to come, and watching Fresno State shred our defense was also scary to watch. All I see out there is an average football team...across the board. Our DL returned 3 starters including one who turned down the NFL. Our LBs were all experienced and one was one of the best players in the Big 12 last year, and they have all been giving up huge chunks of yards. In the last two years, our offense was a time bomb that could always rely on Pelini's defense to keep it in check, and now that is out the window...
What I'm hoping for is a turning point not in staff, but in what Tom is saying. TEAM building. I think that we have a good group of guys, but the problem with recruiting 4-5 star athletes is that they are ALL Primadonna's and all have to have the spotlight on themselves. Bo has got to do some head bashing to get the group thinking as a TEAM and stop the downward spiral before it gets out of hand.
I think it is obvious that Bo has had good records here; however, who has he beaten?
We have gone 10 years without a conference championship. When's the last time that happened?
On defense we have Steinkuhler, Crick, Dennard and David...all of whom, by reputation, are outstanding players. We also have Stafford who impressed me early on. If we went up and down the rosters of the (11) other starting defenses in the conference I don't think that we'd find any other team with a Top 5 this strong.
We have no excuses on defense. In theory we have a chance to improve there.
We have a bad QB. I don't think that we have the depth at the RB position to run the ball, control the clock and avoid turnovers.
Where does this leave us?
By the way, did anyone see Alex miss 2 chip shot FGs in the Eagles home field loss vs. the 49ers yesterday?
Was hard to believe and even more difficult to watch.
And Bob Johnson took Chan Gailey's players, installed his option offense and has KICKED ASS (relative to historical norms) at Georgia Tech.
Not only did he take Gailey's players...but they were recruited for a pro style offense.
Why do we make so many excuses for Bo Pelini?
What the "H" has he ever won here? Did anyone watch his "Welcome to My office" interview on the B10 Network?
He is a frickin' dunce. "I'm actually pretty laid back"...yeh, Bo and Hitler really loved Jews (tongue and cheek).
Now people here are talking about the "rematch" in the Big 10 championship game?
We haven't won a conference championship since 1999. We have NO CHANCE to win the Big 10 this year unless The Wizard of Oz gives Taylor Martinez:
1) A heart
2) A brain
3) Some courage
My point is that we got a lot of inexperience on defense, and it's gonna take time to develop the experience and players. The Big Ten served us up a tough schedule for our first year, and who knows, we might go 7-5, but is that a reason to seriously search for another head coach ????
My point (and Tomko's) is that Pelini is IN YEAR 4! These are HIS PLAYERS! NO EXCUSES!
If we don't have experience it is because they have screwed up recruiting. NO EXCUSES!
