Should be a good game Saturday

I have to tell you, the Huskers have the edge.  Home field advantage is huge.  Michigan State and Nebraska are on a par talent wise.  It's a must game for the Huskers.  Backs against the wall.  Win it or virtually no chance to play for the B1G championship.  It's a game NU should win.

    • MSU was not nearly as well prepared as NU.  Likely had something to do with the off week and "easy" MN game while MSU faced UM and UW back to back.

Carl was very clever to take away the MSU wideouts and dare them to attack between the tackles and with their TEs.

MSU ran ball well between tackles on opening series and their TE missed a big catch early.  Then they changed their focus.

MSU D also did very good job vs. us.  Contained Rex and TMart + outside speed.  We had no big kick returns.  They held us to 270 yards.  They beat themselves by giving us 5 first downs on penalty at some critical stages of the game.

Who'd have thought that Marlowe would have the only big play by either side?

Now we need to win 4 in a row to get to Indy.  If Rex has to get 35 carries a game it could be a problem.  Like him to get 20 or 25 touches; not 35 or 40.  Beck also smart to keep it very simple for TMart as pressure from MSU D likely would have led to problems.

Yes.  I think that Rex could convert to safety and play well in the NFL.

        • Welll if he can play safety in the NFL he sure could play safety in the BIG...but Pelini needs him in backfield as he is 50% of our offense.
  • MSU has better talent.  They have better coaching.

We have never lost to MSU.  Bo's first win was vs. MSU at the Alamo.

We have home field.  This is a must win or we officially begin to play for next year.

If we can't win a "must win" what does that mean about Bo and his coaching?

Remember...we haven't won many "must win" games under Pelini.

If we are going to win it will be due to our  perimeter speed (Bell, Turner, Abdullah, TMart) and/or big plays...but the MSU D has not been giving up big plays.

MSU is vulnerable on punt and kick returns...we'll need one long one or more.

Less than 5 hours to kickoff.
