Prosecutors in Volusia County, Florida, have dropped a misdemeanor possession of marijuana charge against Husker football player Stanley Morgan.

Friday, a spokeswoman said the prosecutors dropped the charges because of “successful completion of a (drug) treatment program.”

Morgan, a wide receiver, and Husker safety Antonio Reed were arrested in May on suspicion of marijuana possession in Port Orange, Florida.

They were pulled over by Port Orange Police for a traffic stop when an officer smelled an odor of marijuana, according to an affidavit.

The officer searched the car and found two backpacks, both with marijuana in them.

Morgan and Reed both claimed one of the backpacks and the marijuana inside, the affidavit said.

Although Morgan was booked on suspicion of felony marijuana possession of having more than 20 grams, an asssistant state attorney filed a misdemeanor charge of marijuana possession. The state also previously had dropped a misdemeanor possession of paraphernalia charge.

On July 17, prosecutors dropped the marijuana charge against Morgan, who had entered a plea of not guilty
