PREDICTION THREAD: HUSKERS vs NITTANY LIONS

This is a toss-up game if you be a bettin' your nickels.  Vegas currently says Penn State by 2 1/2, merely reflecting the home field advantage.  Happy Valley can certainly be a tough place to play when the Lions are roaring, although some would say they are only just beginning to get their growl back.  Of course, the Huskers are coming off a loss and are a wounded team....and them Lions like the smell of blood.

Still....it looks to be pretty close on paper.  Penn St Defense ranked #45 against a Nebraska Offense ranked #45.  Nebraska Defense ranked #41 against a Penn State Offense ranked #50.  Hackenburg could easily carve up our Blackshirt secondary if given time.  However, the Blackshirt front four have shown they have finally found the path to the QB, especially one who likes to simply drop back and look around.  Advantage Corn.  If Beck keeps calling tosses to Ameer, the offense should be humming.  Advantage Corn.

The big gaffes in the last game (turnovers, time of possession, kick catches) will likely be remedied for Saturday.  Bo will "fix it" this week, although some other issues related to youth and inexperience might come into play.   Kinda like whack-a-mole....you smack one problem back its hole and another pops up (missed tackles or penalties anyone?)

At the end of the day however, heart, passion & pride will be the big factors on the road.  This is a tight Husker team that will play all out for each other.  Daniel survives the Lion's Den.  The equipment manager need not go shopping for replacement headsets.  Feel free to bet your pocket change on the Big Red.

  • Huskers were saved by the (Kenny) Bell and PSU's bad FG kicker.

This game should not have been this close. Our team took a step backwards on Saturday.

  • Never ever bet on the Husker....it's just not a good idea. Hard to believe that there are only two regular games left. Sheesh seems like it was just  yesterday we was talking about Jack's run in the Spring game!

34259722?profile=originalCan't believe it won't be long when we will again be wishing for some Husker football. I will admit this year has been a tough one. Maybe there is just too much passion for the Huskers.

I don't think I can wait through another off season...sheesh

Ok let's take another ride on the kool-aid roller coaster!

  • Sooooo, this week has been a bit tumultuous for the staff and players. Some have been getting questions on things going on so it's gotta be taking a bit of a mental toll. Bo has seemed to work the "us against the world" mentality pretty well at times. Now it feels as if it's also the "I've had your back, now have mine" type of approach. I think? I think the PSU advantages are in QB and staff. Ours is talent overall.  PSU is 5-1 overall at home. Forecast calls for some wind, cold and possibly a little precip. How mentally strong are we?  Will Abdullah and Gregory keep the team motivated if we get behind?  Is it a "fight for the coach's jobs" or is it "all our championship goals are vanquished"?  I don't know the answer. Hopefully they do. Unfortunately I'm still a bit of a skeptic.....

  • Senior day in Happy Valley.  Home game for Nittany Lions.

Weather will be rainy, windy and cold.  PSU is favored by 2 1/2.

None of it will matter.  Huskers win by a TD.

  • Even though many have commented on how improved our defense is the over  50% 3rd down conversions that Sparty was able to achieve leaves question marks.   I believe good coaches can find the weakness in our defense and still score some points.  Our offense and special teams have been anything but special.  Too many break downs by the Huskers in this because of who they are and knowing they aren't playing for much. I look for this to get lop sided......hope i'm wrong.

  • Penn St can be pretty tough if Hackenburg is on target, the blackshirts need to pressure him and cover his main target Allen Robinson while trying to corral the two headed rushing monster of Zwinak & Belton

the Defenses are pretty equal statistically over the course of the season but the Blackshirts are on an upswing

kicker Sam Ficken is no slouch either

I'm confident ball security is a major emphasis n practice this week

Should cruise to an easy win. PSU a mediocre team.

If we lose this one Bo should be on the way out.
