PREDICTION THREAD: HUSKERS vs ILLINI

Huskers open the B1G with a visit from the Fighting Illini and a QB named Sheilhouse .... Shielhause .... Scheelhasse .... Scheeelhaause.  However you spell it, the leader of this Illinois offense has been good, lighting up the D of a few opponents...exception being ranked Washington where he completed only 36% of his passes for 156 yards and 1 int.  Big arm....but under pressure....hmmmm....  Illini lost to the Huskies, but made it close at the end, finally losing 34-24.

Will Husker Defense be target practice for Scheelhaase, or will pressure & blitz rattle him? Will the young Blackshirts grow up or still be working on the baby steps?  You can bank on the Corn Offense getting theirs....TMart or Tommy Gun Armstrong....and that will be the difference.

Big Red:  34
Clashing Orange:  27

  • Okay well the wind is gonna howl and it will be chilly....but I don't think quite IA of last year. Probably puts most of it on the OC's to not call a dumb gameplan? Hmmmm Beck, you listening? At Champagne, I'd be very concerned facing a 4 year starting QB.....or in decent weather here for that matter.  However, in the confines of Memorial and Beck forced to be conservative anyway with a very green QB, I expect him to lay off the "mad scientist play calling" (or idiocy at times if you will).  Conservative is a good thing for this team and the weather should only help. Well on our way to winning the division and adding another "Legend's Trophy" to the case. LOL.

  • Scheelhaase put up good numbers at home against S Illinios, Cinci, Miami (Ohio) but only had 105.17 passer rating against Washington at Soldier Field- the 91,000 red clad fans in  Memorial Stadium might be a little much for this young man let alone the veteran secondary and a bye week to scheme some pressure packages
