PREDICTION THREAD: HUSKERS vs BOILERMAKERS

After a five-game home stand to begin the 2013 season, the Big Red finally pack their bags and get on the road to Indiana.  It does not appear that there will be great competition as Nebraska encounters a Boilermaker team that is the mirror opposite in record at 1-4.  Most in West Lafayette certainly wonder where wins will be found this season, even with 7 returning starters on offense and 8 on defense.  A win for first year head coach Darrell Hazell is not likely against the Cornhuskers.

Purdue will have had a bye week to prepare for the arrival of Nebraska, but it will not help.  Look for a young and inexperienced Blackshirt defense to be more than enough against this Purdue offense with limited talent.  If the Blackshirts could rattle a tried and tested Scheelhasse, how much more will they give happy feet to freshman QB Danny Etling?  Add the potency of a Husker offense with TA, Ameer, Bell, Enunwa and friends, and the game should only be close at the opening kickoff.

  • Purdue often plays to the level of their competition and may hang with the Huskers for a while but Armstrong & Co pull away at the end

  • First road game of the year.  Sheesh.  8 home games.  Double Sheesh. Sometimes teams and staffs take more time to jell.  Coagulation in process:

    Corn 48...................old furnaces ........14

  • First time in my lifetime the Huskers play the Boilermakers.

Bo and Beck are trying to convince as many kool-aid drinkers back to the fold.

  • Big Red 48   Boilermakers 21

  • Purdue is scoring a league low of 17.0 points per game.  Purdue defense is giving up a league high 36.6 points per game.  Therefore the ol' Magic 8 Ball sez:  Big Red Corn Smackers 37,   Sheet Metal Tin Cups 17.

  • I'll keep it simple. No reason this shouldn't approach "blowout" levels. Just on our side for once! Purdue is a very poor team that has only beaten up on Indiana St (by like 2 TDs lol). Boilermakers giving up an average of 42pts/game to big boy schools. We should get in that neighborhood.

    NU 38 Purdue 17
  • The Huskers have never defeated Purdue and Purdue kicked them around pretty good the last time so the 1-4 record may be deceiving..

    • Clever.  Yes, NU is winless against the Purdue.  Our record against the Boilermakers is 0-1.  The last and only game was 1958.  The score was 28-0.

  • Enjoy this road vacation. It gets worse from here.

    • No doubt this might be as easy as it gets.  The boys of the Corn will grow in this game like the ones previous, but will it be enough?  NW, Meatchicken n Sparty are all staring us down.  There's at least one win in there....hopefully two.  MN & IA should be wins also, but ya never know.  This is a strange season.
