So Week 4 already! The Illini have defeated Akron and UConn....lost to Eastern MI. Reggie Corbin is a wonderful RB and Peters is well.....a QB. Their DL is actually not that bad with a transfer from USC named Betiku Jr leading the nation in sacks. Can our OL do a decent enough job?
I can't really over analyze this one. If we come to play, business should be taken care of EASILY. We beat them by 19 last year. By 22 in 2017 with Tanner Lee running the show. By 15 in 2017. So they are typically not a problem for the Huskers.
But we did LOSE in 2015 when Tommy was like 10/50, Ozigbo barely touched the ball and they allowed IL to go about 70yds in 40 seconds to win. Maybe THAT should have been our first inkling on Mr. Riley's ineptitude. Ah the struggles with the Illinois teams....
So the spread has jumped from 7.5 to 13.5. I was surprised it started that low based on past results. The defense has played well against largely poor competition. 20th in rush defense, 5th in turnovers, 47th in pass efficiency defense. That should be enough to offset whatever Martinez does or doesn't do of offense for a comfortable margin of victory.
Husker minds might be a bit distracted from the fighting Illini...with the next week offing of fOSU
Memories of Geronimo
If the Huskers beat Illinois, it will be the 900th win in school history, joining only Michigan, tOSU, Texas, Bama and Notre Dame as the only schools to have at least 900 wins.
Forecast is 76 degrees with a 50% chance of showers.
Nebraska is not that good yet. But they are good enough to notch win #900.
Should be a comfortable win. Illinois is on par with the rest of the teams we have played. Assuming Frost stays aggressive on offense we can score almost at Will. Corbin is the best back we have seen so far but he won’t be enough. NU 38. IU 14.
