  • This is going to be a fun week. As for the keys, I think defensively we have to do what Alabama did, contain Taylor and make him beat us with his arm. He didn't succeed vs Alabama in that regard. Another thing, don't let those RBs run wild, they ran up and down vs Marshall last week. Offensively the key number will be 200. If we rush for over 200 yards then that means we control the ball, move the chains, shorten the game, and dominated the line of scrimmage. If all those things are done with a minimum number of penalties and no turnovers, then its a NU win. Oh yeah, the D needs tro add to their TO numbers as well. Nebraska 27 V-Tech 21.
  • I think that the key to a Husker win will be the ability to put points on the board EVERY possession. Wear out the defense by Halftime and hope to God that VT doesn't win the field position battle with their special teams.

I'm not concerned with their passing game, but the threat of Taylor passing gives them the option of using his legs to bust a long one at any time during the game. We have to contain him and that means that guys have to learn to stay home and let the front 4 do the rushing. Hang out in space and maybe give up the underneath stuff for a while. Bend but don't break will be the phrase of the day.

    For a score..... NU 34

  • If Dillard indeed plays this week, then I'd say our chance of winning just took a turn for the better in that regard.

I'm, not saying Dillard is one hell of a LB, even though he does have that potential, he obviously has had issues, either with his abililities, or otherwise, but he has less thinking to do now at Will, and maybe some of what has plagued our LBs up to now...too much thinking, not enough action.

    So I'll say 31 - 27 NU
  • I'm cheering for Nebraska all game long but I don't think we can stop Tyrod and his two running backs. I don't think we can be penalty free or prevent from having a turn over. We do have a chance and if we go in focused with upset in mind. If we can get some turn overs 2 or more interceptions and 2 fumble recoveries and not turn the ball over to them...we can come out with an upset. I think the edge goes to the Hokies but our edge might be a chip on our shoulders and have a vindictive greed to win and here's another ingredient that no one wants to talk about, our coaches need to out chess play Beamer and the Gobblers while the game is happening not just the scheduled game plan.
It will be a good one hopefully a great one for us.

      • I agree about where Sam got his stats. I think he is mixing up FAU with Ark St games, as Ark St is a running team, not a passing one.
        • Also, the reason we scored "only" 38 points, is a direct correlation with Ark St being a running team. I predicted 38-10 for last week's game because of the clock running continuously because of Ark St. running 80% of the time. There wasn't enough clock to get a lot of drives for NU to score more than 31-38 points.
    • sorry but i think VA tech will win.
  • 2 keys to winning this game. Contain the run and stop with all of the penalties. We do that and we're there. I think we'll improve again this week in all aspects of our game, but our D really has to own the line of scrimmage. This is a big statement game and our men know it. 2 Turnovers for the Blackshirts and Z Lee with another 300+ yards passing. I think we get some pay back and leave Va. with a win.

    NU 31
    VA TECH 27
  • i agree we will need to be able to throw the ball, but we must continue to run the football as we have these 1st two weeks. its time, your right, to be black shirt maniacs on the other side of the ball, and a defensive score would be huge.
