My Question's

After 2 interceptions why is Taylor Martinez left in the game?

Is his back up that bad?

Is Bo scared of Taylor's dad or shattering T.M. 's sensitive confidence?

  • I thought we were picking up decent yardage with running the football with Burkhead and our backup RB's.  Once we decided to throw the football it was over.  I am not down on T.M. and his mechanics.  He has always thrown the ball off kilter with one foot in the air and not planting his feet.  The floaters are also going to hurt us in the passing game against a good/fast defense like the Badgers who were able to sniff out where he would through the ball.  He has not been able to use his check downs very well, he looks at who is going to through the ball too and then throws the ball to the other team.  If we need to throw then use a slant or a screen to one of the RB's.  Now, that being said let's build to the run and give our Defense some rest.  This will change the entire game.  My take on the game was that we the Huskers of 2011 were playing the Huskers of 1994 on Saturday.  We beat ourselves over the  years, now we need to bring back the 1994 Huskers which will take some time.  We will be dominant again, but if you do not remember go back and watch our championship game against Payton Manning.  Now, that is what were looking for--pure dominance!!!!

    Go Huskers!!!

That was a great win...but let's not forget that Manning was a one-legged QB that night and had spent several days in the  hospital dealing with an infection in his right (plant) leg.  He could not throw the ball downfield and had no mobility.  He was a sitting duck.  If he were healthy I think that we would have won anyway; but the score would have been close.

Then they go out and win the first BCS championship with Tee Martin at QB.  That was crazy.

        • That's true, he wasn't 100%.  But I'd take a one legged Payton over Martinez any day.

I'd take Peyton in a wheel chair over TMart!

    • I am not sold on Rex...I have never been sold on Rex other than as a team leader.

Turner?  Outstanding athlete.  Need to get the ball in his hands anyway possible.

We are going nowhere this season.  OSU will beat us.  Don't be fooled as they have had Top 10 recruiting classes for the past decade.  They have athletes.  Not sure yet if Luke Pickle can coach.  As bad as Bo is he may be able to outcoach Pickle.  We have a chance to win (35%).

Which of these two teams looked worse yesterday?

        • and the line on the clemson game was close to that too, with them on the + side of the coin.  I think we CAN win, but will they come together as a unit and decide that they WANT to win.

        • While maybe not a premiere back I would want 11 Burkheads on the field. He is the man Tom.

Eric - I agree.  Unfortunately I think that we need a premiere back if we hope to be successful this year.  Felt much better with the Helu/Rex combo last year than I do with Rex having to try to carry the load by himself this year.

As he/we face some of the better Big 10 defenses we'll know more about what we have.

Let's face it.  If we weren't Nebraska we'd have been ranked somewhere between 18 and 25 last week.  Now we'd be hanging on to a Top 25 ranking.

Bo hasn't really won anything since he's been here.  He certainly is an improvement vs. Callahan.  If 8-4 +/- 2 wins a season is the new "norm" I suppose that he's a keeper.

I am concerned that the move to the Big 10 will hurt recruiting in the State of Texas.  Not many Texas kids have found their way into the B10 during the past 30 years.  Do kids grow up there hoping to play against UM and OSU or vs. TX (if they can't play for them) and OK?

    • Russell, I'm not sure I'm seeing much improvement with TMart.  I say no more passing until T learns how.  How would the game have looked with only a running game and very limited passing, say 4 or 5.

I can answer that one...it would have looked like Ohio State vs. Michigan State...except OSU has better running backs.

Rex had what...about 20 yards when they were relevant?

Taylor Martinez is no Denard Robinson....in fact, Taylor Martinez is no Smokey  Robinson!  At least Smokey can sing!

  • Wisconsin is flat out good.  Easily the best in the Big Ten.  Russell Wilson is as good of a quarterback as there is in the nation.  Taylor Martinez, with his side arm delivery will probably not even be drafted in the NFL but will not be benched because BO seems to have softened in his criticism of his players, at least to the media.

A pathetic effort by all.  Coaching especially.  Bo got schooled.

      • Thank you. From the first game, this looks like a team that has not practiced since the Holiday Bowl. The Fresno St. game rose HUGE red flags. Trying to turn T-Mart into Scott Frost is a bad idea. The defense is no longer anything special and that was about the only thing Pelini did right....so what do we have?
  • Bo Pelini is NOT a good football coach.
