im all for jucos if their studs like demario williams, terrel farley, mike rozier. but no recruiting class should ever hang its hat on them like K state did a couple years ago, 17 jucos i think. no class should have more than 1 or 2 unless they are absolute studs that will start the first day

Jason, I mostly agree with you. I definitely don't think we should go the Bill Snyder route and while Bill Callahan relied more on JUCOs than he should have, I don't think he was quite as bad (on that front anyhow) as some believe. You're right in that Farley, Williams and Rozier were studs but I doubt many would have thought Taylor would as good as he was after he washed out at Wake Forest of all places. If not for Taylor, there's a good chance we go 4-7 in both 2005 and 2006.

All I'm saying is we shouldn't thumb our nose at them just because they are JUCO transfers. You also have to take into account that college is far more expensive now than even in my time -- and that includes public universities. Not that I'm an old man at 37 but you get the idea. Basically, some kids that may have gone the walk-on route before might go the JUCO for that reason.

its not like they get full scholarships at the juco level, if they are talented enough and want some schollie money they will have to go the D1AA or DII route. trust me i know how expensive college can be i will be paying mine off for another 14 or so years.

the thing about recruiting jucos is that it screws with a teams depth. being they are only there say an average of 2 years. when a high school kid could have had that same scholarship and been there for 4-5 years and had time to develop and learn a system, not take the first year off and play the second year primarily on talent like alot of jucos do. like i said im all for talent and 1-2 jucos a year but even then they should be closely evaluated.
