Fellow Bloggers response on LITR

This is a well written response and explanation I read on LITR and felt it deserved to be reposted here.  I don't know who Becky is but he/she appears to be a well informed, compassionate, level headed fan of the Husker Program.

Nish, and others? Did not mean to look like a “one-hit wonder”, but I also have to say I usually spend 15-30 minutes at most, looking over the various comments, and then move on. Too many things to do to stay much longer.

You asked for a response back as to why Bo has the support of some of the readers of this blog. I can only speak for myself. I first must say that there was a famous quote that went something like “What we see depends mainly on what we look for”. In the case of Bo, I do think initially that most fans were supportive of Bo, and his actions have caused some to jump off the support wagon. I can understand some of the reasoning. Do I think Bo has been perfect in his conduct? No, but I also do not believe it should hang over his head and be scrutinized to the nth degree. There is no doubt he is a passionate man, and has crossed the line on occasion. But, I also believe he has tried to improve in that area, and hopefully will continue to do so. I know the next thing I will hear back, is “are you kidding me, did you see the Iowa game?” And, to me that game was a culmination of built up pressure and a non-response from our Athletic Director, – who could have issued an overall vote of confidence prior to the game and defused the situation (since I believe that decision had already been made). He too, needs to learn to grow in his position. But, according to No No, Bo practically assaulted the referee when he took his cap off, and swung it DOWN in disgust, never even coming close to touching the ref. Far from an “assault”. But, I haven’t decided “Bo must go” because of a few selected outbursts –I watch lots of sports, and frankly have seen many, many actions that are similar to his and even far worse. But, overall, I believe that game excepted – Bo has grown in his years here, and I believe will continue to do so. Then there are those that were offended by the “tape” after the Ohio State game. His private words didn’t affect me, because having sat in the stadium and watched people exit early or hearing some boos in the crowd, I could understand the emotional response. I was angry also at some of the fans. They don’t represent the type of Nebraska fan that I admired and grew up with. I believe his words in private came in a moment after a draining game. And I know of almost nobody that has never said something they wish they could take back. He apologized, and I think whether you accept it or not, depends on each fan. But, I do believe the majority of fans have.

I also actually believe a win is a win. Some of Bo’s wins just don’t count among the D&G group. They were lucky, etc. etc. The fact that so many of those wins came should be celebrated, not derided. Again, a matter of who’s viewing. I choose to relish them. They take me through the wringer, but I am proud of teams that hang together and can pull them out. One or two such wins maybe “luck”, but I believe the number we have won shows true grit. Why can’t we be proud of some nice victories, rather than nit-pick them to death? And, yes we’ve had several “blow-outs”, that I don’t relish, but neither do I dredge them up in every recap of Nebraska football. They were disappointing, but my ego was not so abused, that I can’t get past them.

I think most of Bo’s players play hard for him, graduate and represent the University in the right way. I think with the many challenges he and his staff have had to face (changing leagues is a pretty big one), and need to be considered. I think we have a staff overall, that the longer they can be together (as the Osborne years showed us, continuity is a very real thing) – the better they will be. I just don’t see how you throw a coach that is winning no less than nine games a year under the bus? I am very optimistic about the coming season. Time will tell. Maybe the win over Georgia was that spark, or maybe some of you will think I am delusional? But, I Bolieve!

  • Lijr typo and Bo
  • Crawford I agree with you and everyone else. No is doing a good job just needs time. Dark as far as I am concerned needs to back off. I use to post always on linebut it has got so negative that it is no longer fun.
  • Low it was well written and she was complemented on it being so.

  • My only point is to post a well written comment from a fellow blogger Nish.

  • What is you point Low?

I wish the litr box would return to the way it was several years ago but several things have happened that probably is no longer possible. As you know the change in format is the main cause for the issues that you witness on the litr box. Anyone can log on using any name they choose. It was several years ago I was on there on a Saturday night after either the UCLA game or tOSU game. I was trying to defend  the Huskers effort on that evening. The negativity toward Bo was terrible. On that evening a nameless poster suggested I should go home and have sex with my mother.

I was actually surprised that none of the usually suspects came to my defense, actually one did, it was either SVH or Cstxfn. Anyway I stayed away from the litr box for almost a year. I don't get the campaign to try and get everyone to have the same opinion regarding the Huskers? The reason why Husker Nation is divided is not because of the fans. It is because of the actions of the Head Coach.

I would love to see a diverse group on the litr box. Love to have someone state their case why they still support Bo. Yet there only seems to be some that want to attack others.

Here is some information for you. The joker that is attacking most on the litr box, Yapper, Yippy and whatever else is a member of Husker Spot and has  used information posted on here in chat to attack other on there. Pretty low if you ask me.

When Bo starts acting like a respectable coach I will gladly support the man.

  • The LITR box appears to be composed of a fairly small group who like to gripe and complain.

With the same old tired, worn-out rhetoric.

    About the same old issues.

Complete with personal insults and putdowns.

    Over and over.

    Nothing really new.

Just rehashing their same stagnant and redundant viewpoints.

    Over and over.

It's the Nellies vs the Koolaiders.

    Over and over.

It's the 'I support Bo' crowd vs the 'Fire Bo' crowd.

    Over and over.

It's the '9 wins' vs the 'No CC'.

    Over and over.

It's the 'Bo is a good coach' vs the 'Bo is a horrible coach'.

    Over and over.

It's the 'Bo has passion' vs the 'Bo is angry'.

    Over and over.

    Yawn.

At least the Spot mixes it up.

    With talk about grilling.

And weed whacking.  (Ok, this might get a bit of a yawn on weed whacking, I admit)

    And remodeling.

    Cars.

    Grandkids.

    Coach Yori and lady Huskers.

Miles and BB.  (Definitely no yawn there)

    Our families.

    Our work.

    Other things happening in Nebraska.

That's why I don't comment over there on the LITR.

It's not worth it, getting tangled up in personal insults and put downs.

The Spot might appear boring to those few that constantly post over and over repetitiously on the LITR, but at least on on here it doesn't require a hardhat, flak jacket and steel toed boots to participate in.

I used to participate on the old LITR format, but their new format has gotten out of hand and out of control

So, it's really easy to see why I only post here.

The folks on the Spot simply show respect for each other.

    That's the difference.

  • very nice post thanks for sharing it Low

PT and I were at the Iowa game and Ferentz had to be restrained by an assistant (no flag) and I didnt see the Pelini outburst till I got home

I kinda like Eichorst but he's been absent a couple times when we've needed him to step up to the plate (most recently on the Pelini contract extension). Eich has redeemed himself by supplying private jets for FB and BB recruiting so hopefully the internal dysfunction is over

we need everyone on board to make this work and that includes the fans, FACT- everyone that posts on a public forum like LITR box needs to be aware that their words affect others

  • Awesome Becky.  I agree completely.  I also chose to believe that the majority of Nebraska fans share these opinions.  The LITR box has become nothing more than a refuge for about 6 people who just can't get past the personal embarassment of Nebraska losses.  Sad for them.  I wonder if they ever consider, in light of how poorly they take Husker losses, that Bo and the players take them even harder and piling on does more harm than good.
