We might have found an offensive identity!  It looks like it might be Oregon's.  Maybe it's identity theft, maybe it's about time, how do you all feel about this possibility?

I don't think it's long term (if it's even true), but maybe it will be a good patch as we move into the Big 10.  All I know is zone-read isn't going to work.

They can definitely move the ball well, but the million dollar question is Do we have a QB that can run that type of O?

I'm willing to try anything at this point.....I wish we would go back to the Ol' school philosophy of a Husker Offense, which had three key components:

1. Blocking

2. Blocking

3. Blocking

When TO was in charge, we consistantly had sustained drives against out opponents, because all our players excelled in blocking...

As much as I'd rather see a power style offense, I'm glad were finally establishing a direction and an identity.  Eventually, we need to pick an offense, settle and stay with it, and recruit like a bat out of hell into it!  And yes, I agree with "blocking."  Something we forgot in the bowl game.

Were not ever going to recruit any good receivers until we at least have something (an established system) to recruit into, and that includes an established QB.

I'm going to hate this move.....teams are going to continue to stack 8 in the box and since NU doesn't recruit any receivers with speed to "SPREAD" the field and keep the defenses honest, then we will see a lot more games like Texas, A&M, OU and the Holiday Bowl.  All it takes is an injury to Martinez (and it will happen) and we are back to struggling to move the chains and have more days of 170 total yards on offense, etc.
I think this offense can work. HuskerJohn listed the 3 keys though Block, Block and Block. We do need to be able to throw and catch and I'm not sure if we have those talents. They are talents for any style of offense the 3 keys are also needed for any offense. I think Lombardi said it best when a reporter asked which plays were made for touchdowns? "every play is designed for a touchdown, even a quarterback sneak".
