Cheer for the Big 12 in bowl games, Yeah or Naw

A thought came up to me over the course of the bowl season about whether fans out there find themselves cheering for or against other Big 12 teams when the bowl season comes around. I'll be quite honest, when it comes to non-conference and bowl games I honestly finding myself cheering for the Big 12 around 99% of the time. The reason being is that I have been caught up in the "Best Conference in the Nation" talk since my budding days as a writer in high school and college. That has carried me through to today even to the point when the old Big 8 schools take on the old SWC schools I cheer on the old Big 8 school 99% of the time. I guess you all are wondering when I am against the old Big 8. Well, it's easy, that's when Colorado is playing. I cannot bring myself to cheer on the Buffs in anything. Nothing against the school, just the bad apples they have as fans. So, here's the questions. #1. Do you find yourself cheering for the big 12/old Big 8 schools more often than not when it comes to non-conference, bowl, and games pitting the old Big 8 school with the old SWC school?

  • I always cheer for the Big 12 teams whenever they play, except of course when they play against us. So many times the Big 8/12 conference was "dissed" by the critics and now they are raving about the conference. I feel it benefits all the teams when we all do good. I would like to see the rivalary again between Okla -Nebr but I guess Colorado is a good alternate!

      • Chris - "Best Conference in the nation"?

Can I sell you some swamp land just outside of Gainesville, FL?

If any season has ever proven the "myth" to be untrue it is this one.

Our conference is 4-2...the only "impressive" win being KU 42 MN 21...but that proves nothing.

Huskers struggle early, get act together...but win due to Suh blocking a chip shot FG (great play) or Clemson is down 2 points at our 10 yard line late and Suh would have to do it again...not to say that he may not have!

MU outclassed by Northwestern who misses PAT or game doesn't go to OT. MU outgained 476-311.

Texas Tech...takes early 14-0 lead then gets blown out by 4-loss Mississippi (a very good and underrated team).

Texas beats OSU as OSU plays worst game of Tressell era and still keeps it close despite mental blunders, dropped passes, 2 missed 2 point conversions, missed FG, controversial roughing the passer call early in 3rd quarter, a QB who couldn't pass and ran out of bounds rather than playing football (he needs to watch Joe Ganz play).

Oklahoma State clearly outplayed by Oregon.

At present, the Pac10 (5-0) and Mountain West (Utah and TCU) have had GREAT bowl seasons.

The SEC and Big 12 both need the "W" tonight or neither will have anything of substance to talk about!

          • I am saying that the Big 12 IS NOT the best conference.

However, despite being tied at 7-7, we are watching two GREAT teams in OU and UF.

OU has provent that they can play defense.

UF has proven that the DO play defense.

Time has proven that D stops O more often then not! Tonight has been no exception.
