After every game, Ameer Abdullah makes it a point to run over and salute the student section.

"The student section, and just the fan base as a whole, means a lot for home games, and sometimes they don't understand how big of an impact they can have on the other team," the Nebraska senior standout said Monday during the team's weekly news conference.

Husker fans maybe were reminded Saturday night of the sort of impact they can have on a game -- what a scene at the old stadium.

The 2011 Ohio State and 2012 Wisconsin games produced raucous crowds in Lincoln. The 2009 Oklahoma game had a big-time atmosphere. I can remember few games with more energy than the 2007 USC game -- which turned out to be a program-defining loss.

As for Saturday night's win against Miami, "That was the loudest I've heard Memorial Stadium since I've been here," Abdullah said. "They had a young quarterback, and I feel it got to him sometimes. It got to their offense. They had a couple delay of games. And that's because of (the crowd). They may not realize that.

"They had a lot to do with the outcome Saturday."

Nebraska head coach Bo Pelini, also speaking at the news conference, said the crowd "was phenomenal. It's a tremendous advantage." Just as Pelini challenges his team every week, he challenged Huskers fans to bring it every week.Abdullah gives props to blocking
