OK....I'm gonna cheat and name two......On defense, I have to go with Rich Glover ("71")...he played nose tackle and his tactics were simple...smack the center on the side of the head, knock him on his ass, and go after the ball carrier.....On offense, I gotta go with Tom Rathman, a complete football player,
One note on Tom Rathman....I went to a game in Lincoln, and saw Tom run a quick pop up the middle from the Husker 10 or 20 yard line..... it was so funny, he looked like this massive wall running at the speed of light...linebackers and safety's couldn't keep up with him, and he scored a touchdown....fond memory...
I like the cheat idea, so I don't get a headache trying to decide. This is tough, different type of schemes.
offense.. I like Fryar the Flyer (nice call Shayne) or Rimington.
bofense.. Neil Smith or Josh Bollocks.
I would love to see Fryar on a team that passes. Rimington for obvious reasons. Neil or Josh could control one side of the field(what could Bo do with that, scary).
John, I was at that game... 83 yard gain. I always had endzone seats, great seats to watch the triple option.
Shayne, did you see the Fryar play when he went out of his way to attack two defenders on his way to the end zone? Oh yes, pay dearly?
He definitely wasn't a guy to shrink away from making blocks or lower a shoulder to get more yardage! We need more players who aren't the no guts all glory type who are willing to sacrifice the body to help the team.
Im gonna go with Eric Crouch. He just had it all. I liked the Wistrom's, and the Brown Brothers. Lawrence Phillips when he wasnt in trouble. And Tommie Frazier is up there too. Brooke Beringer. Steve Taylor. Mike Rozier. Ahman Green. Just to name a few. But something about Crouch was special. He could make plays happen when there werent plays. I'd love him to come back!!
I would bring back Kyle Vanden Bosch or Grant Winstrom just to bring our d-line back to stuffin the run or I would bring back Josh Bullocks for better coverage game or finally Barrett Rudd to stuf the middle.
